One of the books I read this month it completely changed my life. In fact, it changed my life so much that it even had an impact on my reading regime. While up until September I had been more concerned with and driven by the quantity of books I was reading each month, I have now decided to let go of that and focus more on the quality and enjoyment I get out of my books. I grappled with this decision because I knew that this blog would be directly affected and perhaps even less appealing if I didn’t turn out enough material to keep readers interested, but on the other hand my reading has brought me so much more satisfaction that I am being more consistently fulfilled by my reading then I have been in a couple of years. I have to be much more selective with my books and I don’t want my time to be wasted. And even though other life changes (as prompted by The Happiness Project) are making for less reading time (which is also making it difficult to consume a greater quantity of books), I am enjoying my limited reading time more.
I always try to read at least one Halloween-ish (mystery, thriller, ghost story) every October and although I checked out two from the library it just didn’t happen this year. I think the last thriller I read in August was so disappointing (and it’s not a genre I reach for very often) and was too fresh in my mind to go there. So, here is my not-so-scary October wrap up.
